à la snacking in style – these are a flavour BOmB!
Totally devine and whilst I can’t take credit for the recipe I can take credit for the flavour explosion of Ginger & Lime because I’ve tweaked this to a whole new level of deliciousness. I like to make these as my not so naughty treat. They’re also very impressive if you have friends coming over for a cuppa.
Full of really healthy ingredients and not too high in natural sugars, these are a beautiful adult snack and very gourmet! Let’s have a look at just some of the stars in the recipe –
Lime Essential Oil– apart from giving the bliss balls a beautiful zesty pop of cold-pressed lime, pure lime is great for bacterial infections and fevers so its not just flavour happening here
Ginger Essential Oil– Cold pressed from the virgin root in Madagascar dōTERRA’s ginger oil has a beautiful depth of flavour and also aids in digestion
Goji Berries– Full of vitamin C & amino acids
Hemp Seeds – High in protein and minerals
Macca – An adaptogenic herb used for a variety of health issues including balancing hormones & increasing energy
I only use dōTERRA Oils as they are pure, food grade and safe to ingest. If you don’t have dōTERRA Oils, you can purchase them via me – HERE
My Tips
You’ll need a powerful food processor like Kitchenhand Aid or Thermomix or it won’t work
Don’t over process the mixture or the natural oils from the cashews, sunflower seeds and coconut flakes will make the mixture too wet. Blitz to a sandy crumble
Add the essential oils to the melted coconut oil, and mix around with a spoon to distribute evenly before adding to the mix
Play with the amount of sweetener, add half to see if it is sweet enough, then you can add more, I like around the 2 tablespoons or just under
When blitzing the goji berries for the dusting, you can’t do this step ahead of time, blitz then roll. The dust is a little sticky and if left for half an hour will all stick together, making it hard to roll/dust the balls.
I dusted half in goji berries and half in grated chocolate
I used all organic ingredients to make these as healthy as they can be. It cost me nearly $30 without the Hemp Seeds as I already had these but, I’ve paid $5 for 1 bliss ball that wasn’t organic or taste delicious like these so ……. I’m ok with it – fueling my body with the best.
Recipe- makes around 20 balls
- 1 Cup of raw cashews
- 1 Cup coconut flakes – unsweetened
- 1/2 Cup puffed amaranth
- 1/2 Cup hemp seeds
- 1/2 Cup of goji berries plus extra 1/2 cup for dusting
- 1/3 cup sunflower seeds
- 6 medjool dates
- 4 Tablespoons macqui berry powder (you can also use acaci powder)
- 3 Tablespoons melted coconut oil
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 Tablesppon macca powder
- 14 drops dōTERRA lime essential oil
- 9-10 drops dōTERRA ginger essential oil
Method
Place all ingredients into a high-powered food processor (remember to melt the coconut oil and add the essential oils, have this ready to add before you start blitzing) Combine until the oils have started to release.
The mixture should resemble a sandy crumble. Remove from food processor and with your hands roll very firmly into balls of 2cm diameter. Place the extra 1/2 cup of goji berries into the food processor and whizz to form a smooth ‘dust’.
Roll balls in the goji berry dust. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks. They won’t last 2 weeks- no way!
